Second Avenue residents in Limit Hill, Ladysmith, struggle without running water

The pipe burst yesterday, leaving the whole street flooded

Due to a burst pipe in Limit Hill, residents of Second Avenue have been left without water since yesterday (March 4).

The burst pipe left the whole of Second Avenue flooded.

Numerous residents attempted to contact uThukela, furious because they couldn’t bath, cook or clean.

“We’ve had no running water, which makes it difficult for us to prepare meals, clean and take a bath. When we call the municipality, their phones just ring and nobody answers. As a community, this makes us think they aren’t taking us seriously,” said a resident of Limit Hill.

People were seen collecting water from households that have water.

Residents are issuing a plea to uThukela to come and fix the burst pipe as soon as possible.
