LENNOXTON – Pravin Singh was left flabbergasted, when brazen criminals dashed off with his vehicle’s tyres and radio during the early hours of this morning, February 20.
Living in Boundary Road, Lennoxton, Mr Singh had parked his vehicle in his backyard on Sunday afternoon. With his two dogs running loose in the yard and the gates closed, he felt comfortable that his house and belongings were safe. This was, however, not the case.

When he woke up again at 4am to take his wife to Newcastle Inn to catch the satellite to Pretoria, he was left in shock to see his Nissan bakkie standing on bricks.
“My wife must have disturbed them, when she woke up and put on the house’s lights to get ready. They must have also drugged my dogs, as they are both drowsy.”
It was when he went to take a closer look that Mr Singh saw the men had also taken his vehicle’s radio.
He contacted the police and has since opened a case for investigation. However, he has little hope of his vehicle’s tyres and radio being returned.
During the suspects escape, they left their handle for the jack they had used behind.
As the reminder of the crime lingers, Mr Singh was left visibly upset, blaming a neighouring vacant plot of land with overgrown grass for the crime.
“The grass is human height long and you can’t see anything in the grass,” he said. Mr Singh suspected the culprits escaped by hiding in the grass.
Mr Singh has urged residents to be vigilant around their homes.
“Last month, people threw stones on my roof. I think they must have been seeing who comes out of the houses to see what is going on, and I didn’t because if there was someone with a rock, what can I do by myself?” he concluded.
