Team Breakwaters leads the league

Stillwaters Angling Club are outdoing their counterparts from Breakwaters Angling Club.

The second round of the ‘Champion of Champions’ competition of both Breakwaters and Stillwaters was held on January 29 at Sandford. With the increase in the dam level, conditions were challenging as anglers had to wade through the thick vegetation to get their lines in the water or to land their fish.

After much persistence, the top five anglers were Sikander Amod (15 pts); followed by Nadir Chrisenduth (14 pts); Sarfraz Khan (12 pts); Monty Slabbert (12 pts) and Mark Ince (11 pts). It was a close tussle for the title “Champion of Champions” as Wayne Oosthuizen finished on 18 pts followed closely by Sikander Amod on 17 pts.

Wayne Oosthuizen was crowned as the “Champion of Champions”.

The title contenders for Breakwaters/Stillwaters are: Vernon Naidoo (heaviest scaled fish – carp of 3,3,75kg); Sikander Amod (heaviest non scaled fish – Barbel of 6,9kg); Thasheel Rooplal (heaviest scaly of 1,210kg); Suvyn Budhoo (rare specie – a bass of 1,090kg); Mark Ince and Anil Boodhoo (Internal knock Out Doubles Champion); Mark Ince (Most Fish Caught); Fanie Els (Heaviest eel); A Masthan (social outing champion – scaled category); Sanjeev Hanook (Social Outing Champion – non scaled category); Albert van Niekerk (highest point scorer – 40 pts in League 4); Veruschka Boodhoo (Lady Angler of the Year – 20 points); Mohamed Sheik (Junior Angler of the Year – 7 pts); Whity Maharaj (Senior Angler of the Year – 10 pts).

The title of “Angler of Year” is hotly contested between the forerunners, Fanie Els (59 pts) followed by Sikander Amod (53 pts) with Anil Boodhoo and Mark Ince on 52 points each.

Most of other categories are closely contested as anglers stake their name for glory. In most of the categories, the anglers of Stillwaters Angling Club are outdoing their counterparts from Breakwaters Angling Club. The next APL fixture is the VME League 5 at Sandford on February 19.
