Fun in the rain at DSS Mardi Gras

The event was in aid of raising funds to build a school hall

The gloomy weather did not dampen the fun and enthusiasm of the families and friends who braved the rainy weather to support Drakensberg Secondary School‘s fundraising Mardi Gras.

They danced in the rain to the beat of DJ Shanton, DJ Preggie and Sashnee Sangeeth. Family and friends socialised around braai stands.

Children played games in the rain and the crowd enjoyed the family games and fun challenges. The event was in aid of raising funds to build a school hall.

Thus far the Divine Life Society of South Africa has sponsored the steel structure and roofing. It is now up to the school to raise further funds for the cladding and they call upon locals to support them.

Principal Mr Sewlal expressed his sincere gratitude to all those who supported the event, to all sponsors, Mr AB Sookraj for the venue, V and A Decor for the marquees and chairs and the DJs and the band for rendering music free of charge.
