Madadeni SAPS donates school uniforms to Siphesihle Primary School

The Department of Education sponsored R24 500 worth of uniforms, shoes and school shirts to about 200 learners.

MADADENI – Newcastle SAPS amalgamated with Siphesihle Primary School Educators in the distribution of school uniforms to Orphaned and disadvantaged learners, on November 26.

According to SAPS Corporate Communications and Liaison Officer, Lizzy Arumugam, most of the learners came from a disadvantaged background.

“The school was identified by the Department of Education as a school which required intervention instantaneously.”

The project was coordinated by Mrs Alexander who is an educator at the school. The Department of Education sponsored R24 500 worth of uniforms, shoes and school shirts to about 200 learners.

Mrs N. Sithole from the Department of Education expressed the importance of providing uniforms to the less fortunate learners and said wearing a proper uniform was a basic need which boosted the confidence of learners, and lead to greater performance in achieving good results.

One of the guardians who benefited from the project was Thembani Sithole, a grandmother of three of the learners, thanked all stakeholders who had donated the uniforms.

SAPS officials educated the learners about bullying, sexual harassment and kidnapping.
