Home-schoolers learn about the true meaning of Christmas

"Abundant Life stepped up to the challenge and blessed us with a special programme about the true meaning of Christmas"...

A group of around 16 home-schoolers from Northern KZN had a day to remember when they visited an orphanage to experience the true meaning of Christmas. The children came from Dundee, Newcastle, Normandien, Geluksburg and Volksrust and it was a rush for mums to get to Volksrust last Thursday morning. “We kicked off the day with our Entrepreneurs stalls at Espresso Coffee Shop in Volksrust and the kids had a great learning experience and clearly worked hard on their creative, colourful products,” said parent, Lindi Karsten.

The Abundant Life Christian Touring group from Dundee had the kids spellbound with their puppet shows and some of the local schools paid a visit. At 3pm a visit to the Louis Hildebrandt Orphanage was on the menu. “Abundant Life stepped up to the challenge and blessed us with a special programme about the true meaning of Christmas. Local businesses, as well as businesses in Newcastle and Dundee, contributed to a real feast of pizzas, “boerewors-rolle”, juice, sweeties, chips, cup-cakes and even a 100 toothbrushes!

Home-schooler, Arabella Meyer, enjoyed the puppet show with some of the local Volksrust kids.

People from all over the area – even as far as Geluksburg – generously contributed towards our Shoebox project (in which each of the 90 kids received a beautifully wrapped gift). Thank you to all. May the Lord bless each of you!” said Lindi.  “Our kids enjoyed the afternoon with new friends made, while the joy and excitement on their faces will long be remembered. “We spent a lovely evening at Smalkloof Guest House just outside of Volksrust. It was a relaxing evening to top off a great day. Thank you to Morne and Madelein Myburgh – you guys were great!

We would like to thank the following local businesses for their support in donations: The Curry Parlour, Lalalapha Hotel, The Lighthouse Padstal, The Guinea Fowl, Paul Coetser Brokers amd Afrgri Dundee.”
