2 arrested in Leonardsville drug bust

Two men were found in possession of drugs suspected to be heroin capsules and heroin straws

Two men have appeared in court after being arrested in a drug bust in the Leonardsville area on Wednesday, November 30.

A group of police officers from the Ladysmith Crime Intelligence Gathering Unit, Ladysmith K9 Unit, Pietermaritzburg Tactical Response Team (TRT) and Newcastle Public Order Policing (POP) were involved in the drug bust.

Two men, aged 23 and 26, were found in possession of drugs suspected to be heroin capsules and heroin straws.

Recoveries included 468 straws, 42 capsules and a small amount of cash which is suspected to be the proceeds of crime. The drugs have an estimated street value of around R15,000.

The suspects appeared in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court on Friday, facing charges of being in possession of drugs.
