THE results from last weekends fixtures are as follows: On Saturday Mr X played Bhekuzulu in a Kingsmead Mynahs 30 over match at Cecil Emmett.
The overs had to be reduced to 20 due to wet field conditions and, thanks to our groundsman, Craig Petersen and Bo’s plant and tool hire, to make any play possible.
Bhekuzulu batted first and were restricted to 81/5 after their 20 overs. T Masondo (20) and T Dube (17 not out) were the top run getters with Devin Aspden (4-0-12-2) and Mathew Stride (4-0-16-1) being the best bowlers for Mr X.
The Mr X batsmen made easy work chasing the low total and managed it in 12 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. Mathew Stride (38) and Jaco van Wyk (24 not out) top scored. The only successful bowler for Bhekuzulu was T Masondo with figures of 3-0-26-2. Mr X won by 8 wickets.
In Sundays matches King Superstars traveled to Dumbe and bowled first in a Kingsmead Mynahs 30 over clash.
Dumbe managed to score a decent 234/4 in the allotted overs with batsmen Charl Beneke (101 retired) and Leon Solms (55) top scoring. The best King Superstar bowlers were H Khan (6-0-43-1) and M Ikhlak (5-0-38-1).

In an exciting run chase King Superstars ended up just 8 runs short after their 30 overs mainly thanks to A Iqbal (110) and S Iqbal (43). Dumbe’s Juan Freyer (5-0-31-2) and Anton Beneke were the top wicket takers.

Dumbe won by 8 runs.

In an enthralling declaration match played at Cecil Emmett, Wicket Wasps batted first against the Afrimat Gladiators and scored 244 all out in the 36th over.

Juan Booyens (84) and Dillon Herbst (71) top for Wicket Wasps. The Gladiators best bowlers were Connor High (7-0-55-5) and Jackie Delport (12-3-60-4).

The Gladiators showed patience with the bat and managed to hold out the Wicket Wasp bowling attack for the remaining 44 overs scoring 211/6 with Kobie Mare’ (78) and Joshua Stride (43 not out) standing out with the bat. Juan Booyens (13-2-54-2) and PJ du Toit (8-0-34-2) were Wicket Wasps wicket takers.

The match ended in a draw.
The Vryheid XI traveled to Arbor Park in Newcastle to play the Newcastle XI.
The match was unfortunately rained out while the Vryheid XI were chasing the 198 set by the Newcastle batsmen.
At the time of the rain Vryheid were 83/4 and the match looked set up for an exciting finish.
Some of the stand out performers for Vryheid were Tiaan Naude’ (9-0-35-3) and Gavin Bosman (8-1-21-2) with the ball. Batsmen Clifford Dougherty (20) and Andrew Brooks (14) were still at the crease and looked set to take it home for Vryheid.
