Traffic Department/Police in joint violation clamp down operation

He called for community members not to turn a blind eye when they witness reckless driving, but to report it to 'law enforcers'.

A number of drivers were fined during several roadblocks held in the area last week Tuesday.
According to Endumeni Chief Traffic Official, Alfred Nsibande, the operation was a success because of the joint partnership between the SAPS, RTI and Endumeni Traffic Officers.
Mr Nsibande said drivers were fined for various traffic violations, including not stopping at stop signs (McKenzie/Gladstone Streets, McKenzie/Cornhill Streets), not wearing safety belts and driving without a license.
He said the operation was part of the festive season safety measures. “Similar operations will continue to be intensified throughout the festive season in the town to ensure the roads around Endumeni are accident-free,” Mr Nsibande said.
He called for community members not to turn a blind eye when they witness reckless driving, but to report it to ‘law enforcers’.
“We need to work harder to eliminate the scourge of road carnage in order to restore communities’ faith in law enforcement agencies.
“We cannot succeed on our own – we need communities to work with us by reporting bad driving and spread the message of road safety.
“Drivers must be warned to behave well on the road.
“We will ensure that there is a reduction of accidents in the town.
“We are not here to victimize people but to ensure that everyone arrives safely at their homes,” Mr Nsibande added.
