Charged for disturbing the peace

The music was so loud that it affected people a distance away and they complained to Ladysmith SAPS

On the afternoon of Monday, November 7, a 34-year-old man was arrested and charged for public disturbance. The man, who is the manager of a tavern in Andra Square in the Hillside area, had loud music playing during the course of the afternoon.

The music was so loud that it affected people a distance away and they forwarded their complaint to Ladysmith SAPS. When police arrived at the tavern, they witnessed the disturbance first-hand.

The man was arrested and had his music system seized as evidence by police. He opted to pay a R3000 fine.

With the festive season on our doorstep, there are bound to be parties and events taking place at homes and businesses.

Police are appealing to those who intend to hold these events and parties to have consideration for the fact that there are residents who may be adversely affected by loud noises.

Play your music at an acceptable level which does not create a disturbance for others living nearby.
