Have you noticed the recent bright pink graffiti in Lorne Street?

The historic Railway Station building, which has been standing since before 1980 has been spray painted. The bold pink writing greets you as you pass Lorne Street.

The activity is considered to be vandalism. Graffiti is defined as one or more letters, which may include symbols, figures and etchings, or other markings that disfigure or deface a structure.

Graffiti vandals use a variety of materials such as spray paint, crayons and permanent ink to deface property. The spray painted words on the wall of the old Railway Station seem to be related to the taxis operating in Lorne Street.

Words such as ‘Crocodile’, ‘Durban’ and ‘ND’ are painted on the wall. This act promotes community degradation.
