Eqhweni Primary School at it again

It is now a great pleasure to announce that Eqhweni represented the school, the Loskop circuit, Estcourt CMC and the community of Ngodini (Loskop) with great pride

Eqhweni Primary School learners and educators participated in Old Mutual GET Excellence Awards. This competition was organised by the Department of Education, Uthukela District to recognise all learners and educators who are doing great job in their respective subjects.
The awards ceremony was held on October 21 at the Ladysmith Town Hall.

All Uthukela District schools were allowed to submit their learners’ June examination papers for eliminations. After submissions, the GET committee moderated the learner’s assessment and requested the schools to bring their learners for GET assessment.

All learners from different schools wrote common tasks set by subject advisors at the same time It is now a great pleasure to announce that Eqhweni represented the school, the Loskop circuit, Estcourt CMC and the community of Ngodini (Loskop) with great pride.

The school managed to score a victory in five subjects – English grade nine (taught by BZ Mrs Shawe – position one), Social sciences and Technology grade nine (taught by Mrs HS Mahlamba – position two) Economics and Management Sciences grade nine (taught by Mr NL Mdluli – position three) and Social Sciences grade six (taught by Miss VP Buthelezi – position two).

That was not the end of the story as the school was recognised for best achievement in the Senior Phase. In this category the school got third place.

All the awardees (teachers and learners) got additional certificates from Sukuma Sakhe for doing well under challenging conditions and in the school that is poverty stricken and lacks resources.

One can then quote the words of a wise man: “Your best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago but your second best time is now.”

The school would like to thank all educators from all phases because we would not have received these awards if it was not for them. It takes a community to teach a child.
