On Saturday, Bhekuzulu batted first against eMondlo and amassed a mighty 263/8 with Freedom Buthelezi (96) and Sphamandla Mkhonza (29) top scoring. The ever-improving eMondlo put on a brave fight with the bat and scored 86 all out in 16 overs, with Mlamuli Khumalo (21) and Njenge Shoba (15) being the stand out batsmen for the side.

Bhekuzulu’s Dube Thabede was the best bowler with figures of 3-0-17-4. Bhekuzulu won by 177 runs.
On Sunday, Mr X travelled to Dumbe, where they were dismissed for 134 in the 20th over after batting first.

Jaco van Wyk (30) and Johan Pollard (19) were their best batsmen, while Dumbe’s best bowlers were Rupert Beneke (4-0-16-4) and Jaco Coetzee (1-0-8-2).

Dumbe made easy work of chasing the target, reaching it in the 18th over, with the loss of just two wickets. Marcel Hinze (50) and Leon Solms (63) were unbeaten with the bat. Kyle Taylor from Mr X was their best bowler, taking one wicket for 16 runs in his four overs.

Dumbe won the match by eight wickets.
Meanwhile, two matches were played on a fantastic batting pitch prepared by Craig Petersen at Cecil Emmett.
The morning game was played between Wicket Wasps and the Afrimat Gladiators.

Wicket Wasps batted first and scored 212/1 in their allotted 20 overs, with Andrew Brooks (84 not out) and Tiaan Naudè (78 not out) doing most of the damage. Gladiators’ only successful bowler was Connor High with figures of 4-0-28-1.

The Afrimat Gladiators struggled to get partnerships going and were restricted to 172/9 in the 20 overs. Andrew Brooks (4-0-32-3) and Juan Booyens (4-0-24-2) were the best bowlers for Wicket Wasps. Charles Janse van Vuuren (41) and Adriaan Kruger (37) batted well for the Gladiators. Wicket Wasps won by 40 runs.

The afternoon nail-biter was played out between King Superstars and Bhekuzulu. KSS bowled first and restricted Bhekuzulu to 135 all out in 18 overs, with Freedom Buthelezi (50) and Leon Zwane (23) top scoring.

Shazad was the leading wicket taker for KSS with figures of 3-0-26-3. In a tight finish, KSS managed to reach victory with two balls to spare and just two wickets to spare with Afzal Hussain (46) and Tosif Patel (24 not out) being the heroes with the bat. King Superstars won by two wickets.

The two semi-finals will be played on Saturday at 1:30pm, with Mr X (third) vs Dumbe (second) in Dumbe and Afrimat Gladiators (fourth) taking on Wicket Wasps (first) at Cecil Emmett. The final will be played on Sunday at Cecil Emmett starting at 1:30pm.
