Strong winds cause power outage in Emahhashini

It's been reported that cables used to transport electricity were damaged by the force of the winds

Residents living in the Emahhashini section of Wembezi experienced a power outage during the past weekend.

It is believed that strong winds were the reason they had no electricity since Saturday morning, October 15 until late on Sunday evening, October 16 when the power was restored.

It has been alleged that the violent winds ripped roofs off various homes as well. The inclement weather and the sudden power outage were not all that frustrated Emahhashini residents, the poor service received from the local Inkosi Langalibalele Municipality added to their frustration.

“This kind of service is unacceptable,” exclaimed concerned resident, Mphendukelwa Mbatha.

Emahhashini homeowners resorted to calling the municipality regarding the issue and received no feedback indicating when the power would be restored.

On Monday morning, October 17 the Electricity, Social Development and District Disaster departments were on site. It’s been reported that cables used to transport electricity were damaged by the force of the winds and that the Electricity Department were working to rectify it.
