Nardini welcomes the last term of 2016

We would like to congratulate Kgotso Motloung and Luthando Sithole, who took part in the Eskom Science Expo for young scientists.

WE welcome the children back for the last term.
We would like to congratulate Kgotso Motloung and Luthando Sithole, who took part in the Eskom Science Expo for young scientists.

Their project was called Egg Electricity, where they used an egg to produce electricity.

They first participated in the Vryheid District Science Expo where they were then chosen to represent the district in KwaZulu Natal Far North Region, Eskom Expo for young Scientists.

Among 71 projects, six projects were selected and theirs was one of them.

This meant that they had to represent KwaZulu Natal Far North Region at the International Science Fair which was held in Birchwood Hotel in Gauteng from October 4 to 7.

The competition was tough and there were about 580 young scientists from Sweden, Mexico, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Swaziland, Lesotho and from all nine South African provinces.

At this first attempt, they each received a bronze medal, which is a great achievement considering the fact that there were hundreds of children who took part and from different age groups up to Matric.

We would like to thank Mr Mtshali for encouraging and assisting the two boys in improving the project.

The aim for Eskom is to inspire young Scientists to be researchers and to come up with innovative ideas. Eskom wants to improve education with particular focus on Maths, Science and Technology.

At the end of the third term, we had a cultural day.

The children were beautifully dressed representing a variety of cultures.

We had cowboys, Red Indians and Portuguese to mention but a few and of course our different African cultures such as Ethiopia and other South African cultural groups.

Our grade 5 and 7 tours to Elandsheim and Bosco respectively was also a success. The children learnt a lot and were commended for their good behaviour. We would like to thank Nondweni Bus Service for transporting us safely once again.
