This spiritual experiences would not have been possible had it not been for Srila Prabhupada, who travelled to New York in August 1975 to spread the word about Krishna conciousness to the Western world, after receiving an instruction from his spiritual master, Bhaktisiddant Saraswait Goswami.

However, he did not stop there, and Srila Prabhupada travelled the world and spread the message to all four corners of the world.

In honour of his actions, ISKCON devotees throughout South Africa united to chant the names of Lord Krishna and worship for five hours non-stop on Sunday.

The service symbolised the past 50 years of the existence of ISKCON.

Devotees from Newcastle and neighbouring towns gathered at the temple and chanted the holy names of Lord Krishna on Sunday, to break away from the shackles that bound people to the material world, and honouring God.
