Foreign nationals having a bad hair day

The officers stopped and searched them and found haircutting equipment in their possession, as well as a hammer and a screwdriver.

NEWCASTLE police detectives are investigating a burglary which occurred at Hair Studio on Voortrekker Street.

Allegedly, the victim locked the shop in the afternoon on October 6.

When the victim went to the shop the next morning, October 7, a window was broken and haircutting equipment was stolen.

Newcastle Crime Prevention members, Warrant Officer M.S Rose and Constable M.J du Plessis were patrolling Newcastle CBD and noticed two suspicious people sitting behind a dustbin in the Home Affairs parking lot at 2am on October 7.

When they saw the police approaching, they tried to run away.

The officers stopped and searched them and found haircutting equipment in their possession, as well as a hammer and a screwdriver.

The haircutting equipment found was identified by the victim of the burglary at the salon.

The police arrested two foreign nationals, aged 20 and 22, for possession of stolen property, possession of house breaking implements and for being illegal immigrants.
