THREE T20 league matches were played at Cecil Emmett last weekend on a well prepared pitch, thanks to Bo’s Tool and Plant hire supplying us a roller.

On Saturday Mr X played against newcomers eMondlo. Unfortunately, at the time of going to press no scoresheet was available for this game.

The Sunday morning match was contested between Wicket Wasps and King Superstars. Wicket Wasps batted first and scored 195/8 in their 20 overs with Tiaan Naudè (76) and Juan Booyens (31) top scoring. Safdar Iqbal was King Superstars’ leading wicket-taker, returning with impressive bowling figures of 4-0-15-4. In batting, King Superstars were bowled out for 138 in the 18th over with only Safdar Iqbal (86) making any impression with the bat and Wicket Wasps best bowler was Andrew Brooks with figures of 4-0-16-3. Wicket Wasps won by 57 runs.

In Sunday afternoon’s game, Dumbe batted first against Bhekuzulu and scored 205/5 in their allotted 20 overs with Marcel Hinze scoring a well batted 117. B Mkhonza claimed 2 wickets for 34 runs in his bowling spell for Bhekuzulu. A disciplined bowling performance saw Bhekuzulu skittled out for 82 runs in the 15th over mainly thanks to Rupert Beneke’s bowling figures of 4-0-23-4. S Mdluli (17) and B Mkhonza (14) were the only Bhekuzulu batsmen to get double figures. Dumbe won by 123 runs.

This weekend sees a busy round of fixtures with Wicket Wasps traveling to Dumbe on Saturday and King Superstars hosting Mr X at Cecil Emmett. The Sunday matches at Cecil Emmett are at 10am – eMondlo vs Bhekuzulu and 1.30pm – Gladiators vs Mr X.
