No price increase for early postbox renewals

Customers are reminded to pay their rental through a notification left in their postboxes, as well as an SMS which is sent to all renters who has given the SA Post Office their cellphone number

The SA Post Office has announced that customers who renew their postboxes and private bags before the end of 2016 can do that at a 0% increase. The year’s rental for a postbox will remain at R380 and R1500 for a private bag.

Postboxes and private bags can be renewed at any post office as well as on line at www.virtualpostoffice.co.za.

From  January 1 2017, the yearly rental for a postbox will be R410. Renting a private bag for a year will cost R1 640. Postbox payment is due by January 31 2017.

“Post boxes are readily available and safe, allowing customers to access their mail at their convenience,” says Andrew Nongogo, head of Operations at the SA Post Office. Mr Nongogo pointed out that a postbox can be paid at any post office outlet countrywide. Customers need not pay at the outlet where they rent their postbox.

“Post boxes offer excellent security for mail items and are particularly useful to companies and individuals who receive important or sensitive items in the mail,” said Nongogo.
