Hindu community marks Navarathri with dedication and enthusiasm

' In the present turbulent times, Guru is our pillar of strength. He advises us, gives us the courage to face our difficulties and also shares our joys and sorrows'

The local Hindu community’s celebration  Navarathri was enthusiastic and proof that both  young and old are greatly aware of the role  religion and culture plays in their community.
Geetha Dookie of the Dundee Hindu Temple committee described this important celebration as a resounding success.
“This colourful and vibrant celebration of the nine forms of theMother brings us together as a community, and we are also proud to say that a large number of out of town devotees joined us for the Navarathri celebrations
“Each day’s service was filled with prayer, bhajan and kirtan, garba and aarthi. It is written in the Holy Scriptures that, where a number of people come together to sing the praise of God, an immense spiritual current or Mahashakti is generated. All those present felt this powerful vibration and many devotees found peace of mind and strength from this divine energy,” said Geetha.

“On behalf of the Hindu community of Dundee and surrounding areas, I express our gratitude and appreciation to Guru Umeshvaran. Without his dedication and determination, the profound divinity of this festival would not have been possible. A religion of rituals and formalities, without philosophy, is superstition. Religion and philosophy must go hand in hand, to give a devotee the supreme divinity, which is every person’s ultimate goal.
“We are blessed that we receive this precious gift in abundance from Guru. His explanation of the scriptures and how it relates to our daily lives made each one of us realise how religious insight can change our lives for the better. In the present turbulent times, Guru is our pillar of strength. He advises us, gives us the courage to face our difficulties and also shares our joys and sorrows. May Mother Durga shower him with all her glorious blessings and may he achieve whatever his heart desires.
“Many thanks to all who contributed in any way to our Navarathri festival. May the Goddess Durga bless you and your family with good health, prosperity and peace.”
