Effective methods to protect yourself

As a trained police officer and Mixed Martial Arts instructor, he also knows the correct methods to protect against some of these criminal elements

Knowing how to react in a dangerous or emergency situation could save your life. But are we all aware of how to defend ourselves against an attacker?

Or are we aware of the crime hotspots that we should be extra vigilant around? If you answered no to either of these questions, then you should clear your diary for Monday, October 17 and attend the self-defence and crime trends talk that will be hosted by David Allen.

As Deputy Chairperson of the Community Police Forum, Mr Allen is privy to information regarding the current crime trends and crime hot spots. As a trained police officer and Mixed Martial Arts instructor, he also knows the correct methods to protect against some of these criminal elements.

“With the recent high crime rate, I’ve been tasked by the CPF to organise a talk on what to do in an emergency, current crime trends and effective self-defence.
“This will deal with basic steps for a good attack whether it is a house break-in, hijacking or ATM robbery,” explained Mr Allen.

He intends for the talk to be practical and interactive.

“It will be a one-hour talk with practical tips and people should come away knowing the basic points to protect themselves,” he added.

The talk will be held at Midlands Christian Centre, starting at 5.33pm. In attendance will also be Ward 17 Councillor Mr Mvelase, the Police Station Commander and CPF members.
