Dundee Hindu Temple presents its first Ram Bhajan prayer

The prayer will commence at 2pm with the hawan ceremony at the Dundee Hindu Temple.

The Dundee Hindu Temple, in conjunction with the Youth Group, will be hosting its first ever Ram Bhajan Prayer on October 15.
This prayer is being done during the auspicious month of Purtassi when Hindus pay homage to Lord Vishnu in his manifestation as Lord Venketeshwara, Srinivasa or Balaji.
The eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu was Krishna or Govinda and in this avatar he manifested himself as many times as was necessary to dance the Raas Leela with the many gopis who were his ardent devotees.
In Dwapara Yugam (Lord Krishna’s time), Yashoda (step mother of Krishna) couldn’t witness the marriage of Lord Krishna with Rukmini.
Then the Lord promised Yashoda that she would get that chance when the Lord incarnates as Lord Venkateswara in Kali Yugam and she would be born as Vakula Devi (considered the mother of Lord Venkateswara).
Thus, Lord Krishna fulfilled his promise to mother Yashoda and he came back as Shri Venketeshwara and married Goddess Padmavati.
The Ram Bhajan Prayer is based on the same concept of dance and song – it is a celebration of the victories achieved by Lord Vishnu as Lord Venketeshwara, Srinivasa or Balaji. Homage is also paid to Hanuman who was Lord Vishnu’s most devoted servant and devotee when he took the avatar of Shri Ram.
The prayer will commence at 2pm with the hawan ceremony at the Dundee Hindu Temple.
Thereafter, from the three-road intersection of Tom Worthington Drive, Hajee Jamal Street and Chocolal Street, the procession will proceed to the Dundee Hindu Temple at approximately 5pm, where the Ram Bhajan ceremony will commence at 5.30pm.
The officiating priest will be Guru Umeshvaran Nagiah.
Supper will be served. Details: Kerisha 071 302 0852 or Uveshin 084 201 0967.
