KAYLA Becker and Megan de Beer proudly represented Vryheid at the National round of SATCH (South African Talent Championships) 2016 in Pretoria last week.

Excitement ran high last week Wednesday as performers from all over South Africa rendered their dance items. Students in song, dance, acting and modelling from around the country come together to compete at this event.

“This is a big competition and the standards are high,” said dance instructor, Marina de Beer.

Kayla and Megan performed their Contemporary Duet (choreographed by Megan) and got a whopping 82% (Silver) for this stunning dance.

Kayla also performed a Lyrical and Contemporary Solo (choreographed by Marina de Beer of Stepping Out Dance Academy) and received 84% (Silver) for her Contemporary Solo, missing Gold by 1%, and received 85% for her Lyrical Solo (Gold).

Megan performed her Contemporary and Jazz items (Choreographed by Dance 2 the Beat Studio – Pretoria), as well as her Modern item that she choreographed herself. She received 84% (Silver) for her Modern, 87% (Gold) for her Contemporary Solo and 86% (Gold) for her Jazz item. Things got very interested when SATCH gave Megan a call to Perform in their showcase on Friday, October 7.

SATCH also asked Megan to perform her inspirational Contemporary, ‘Beauty’, and Megan also had the privilege to open the show with an opening dance that she had choreographed herself. This was a huge honor for Megan and she feels blessed for the opportunity afforded to her by the SATCH organisers.

“These two beautiful artists are on their way to big things in the future and I feel honored to be their teacher, mentor and, off course, I am extremely proud to be Megan’s mother. The pride I feel in my heart when I see them dance cannot be described. The passion, love and dedication they have when they are on stage is unstoppable! They are one in a million and we are blessed to have such talent. A huge congratulations to you two, you make us so proud,” concluded Mrs de Beer.
