Buurtwag responds to bad behaviour

Video footage reveals what took place prior to the collision, leaving both Buurtwag members in breach of many of the organisation’s rules on the code of conduct.

TWO patrolling members from Vryheid Neighbourhood Watch were recently suspended, pending further investigation.

An incident which took place on the night of September 24 near the intersection of Church and East Streets led to a collision between a light motor vehicle and a petrol tanker which could have had disastrous consequences.

The occupants of the light motor vehicle, two patrolling members of Vryheid Neighbourhood Watch and a young girl who is not a member of the organisation, were lucky to escape with only minor injuries.

Video footage reveals what took place prior to the collision, leaving both members in breach of many of the organisation’s rules on the code of conduct, signed by all members who are inducted as patrollers.

The executive commitee will be taking the necessary disciplinary measures to ensure that these actions are dealt with accordingly and to reassure the community that this behaviour by members is not condoned nor deemed acceptable by ambassadors of Vryheid Neighbourhood Watch under any circumstances.
