Autism Awareness Family Day and Fundraiser scheduled for October

This event will be held on Sunday, October 23 from 10.30am at the Ennersdale Sale Yards and will include guest speakers

When Kylie Braithwaite was diagnosed with autism, her family realised that accessing services, medical treatment as well as funds to cover her treatment were some of the stumbling blocks they would have to face.

Autism is described as a neurodevelopmental disorder characterised by impaired social interaction, verbal and non-verbal communication, and restricted and repetitive behaviour. Parents usually notice signs in the first two years of their child’s life.

Kylie was about nine-months-old when the Braithwaite’s realised something was amiss. Months of test, scans and assessments followed and Kylie was diagnosed a being on the autistic spectrum. She cannot walk or talk and will require full-time care.

Medical costs coupled with limited education and awareness has prompted the family and friends to host the Kylie Braithwaite Trust Autism Awareness Family Day and Fundraiser.

This event will be held on Sunday, October 23 from 10.30am at the Ennersdale Sale Yards and will include guest speakers who will create awareness and answer questions about autism as well as entertainment.
