Are you donating to a school or being scammed?

It is suspected that the children came up with the scam in order to make money

During police patrols in the Ladysmith CBD recently, police spotted a group of young scholars who were approaching people for donations. The children were interviewed and said they were collecting donations for their school in Estcourt.

They were also found in possession of donation forms supposedly belonging to a school in Estcourt.

The school was contacted and the principal confirmed that they were not involved in a donation drive and that the children were unknown to him; they were not even scholars at that school.

It is suspected that the children came up with this scam in order to make money.

Police advise the community to personally verify with schools or organisations whether donation forms are indeed valid and not part of a scam.
