Sewer water flows in front of shop

Customers "stumble" through the leakage as they enter, while also having to deal with the foul stench in the air

After complaining about a burst pipe to uThukela District Municipality, Mrs L Bhoobun still faces problems with sewer water flowing right in front of her shop in Kandahar Avenue.

“After numerous complaints to the municipality about a burst pipe, uThukela responded and fixed it all up. However, in a period of 2 weeks after the pipe was repaired, the problem started again,” says Mrs Bhoobun.

She adds that when they were fixing the pipe, they put it facing the wrong direction, which resulted in a sewer blockage right in front of her store. Now she is angry about the water standing around in front of her shop and the disgusting smell. Customers “stumble” through the leakage as they enter, while also having to deal with the foul stench in the air.

As a member of council in the Leonardsville area, Mrs Bhoobun has been receiving lots of complaints about the smell.

She urges uThukela to come and sort out the situation, as it is not good for business and the Leonardsville area as a whole.
