Swimmers dive into spring waters

SUNNY RIDGE – A breezy 15 degrees Celsius did not ward of a pair of avid swimmers on Spring Day.

Eugene Hauptfleisch and Richard Clayton braved the chilly blue waters on September 1, as the Newcastle Swimming Pool opened for the season.

Both men completed two lengths before calling it a day.

However, at the height of the last season, both men boasted as many as 20 lengths throughout a day, and hope to reach that again this year.
