Vryheid Cricket Clubs 50th season started off in fine style last weekend at Cecil Emmett Park.

A 10 over a side festival was played between five of the club sides over Saturday and Sunday.

The festival was well supported and spectators were entertained with some fantastic cricket, sportsmanship and great camaraderie featured by the players.

Mr X were the eventual and deserved winners of the festival beating the Afrimat Gladiators in the final. The club would like to thank all the sponsors who made contributions as well as everyone “working in the background” to make everything possible.

This coming weekend sees the start of the T20 League with all matches being played at Cecil Emmett. On Saturday Wicket Wasps host Zululand starting at 2pm and Sunday sees 2 games being played, 10am Afrimat Gladiators vs King Superstars and 1:30pm Mondlo vs Dumbe.

“We would also like to make an apology for an incorrect name in last weeks newspaper. The last insert is the late Bradley Spangenberg (after who the clubs fielding trophy is named) and not Koos Spangenberg.”
