Mondlo Athletes represent in Joburg

THE MONDLO Athletics Club members seem to be set on raising the bar high this spring.

THE MONDLO Athletics Club members seem to be set on raising the bar high this spring.

Members of the club went to Johannesburg this past weekend to take part in various race competitions and all their practising seems to have paid off as two females and the team’s coach all made their marks.

The team’s Ntshatiseng Molefe (15) came in second position in the 10 km CELLC Day of Marathons, which was held in Ranburg on Sunday.

Nokwanda Mdlalose (13) also gave it her all and came in 5th position in the 5km race.

The team’s coach Innocent Ngema came in first position in the Solemate race and is set to be defending his title in Cape Town this coming Sunday.

Despite their hard work, the team is still struggling financially and has often had to sleep at police stations and garages on their trips, as they have no money for accommodation.

“Both me and Ntshatiseng are set to be heading to Cape Town, I am currently uncertain whether or not we will have the funds to go there. We would like to ask any local businesses or members of the public who might be able to help to contact me,” said Innocent.

Coach Innocent’s number 078 876 5567
