From worrying about black cats to not breaking a mirror, the list goes on.
Today is Defy Superstition Day, a chance to finally prove that all these superstitions have no influence on your life.
This is a great opportunity to face your fears and put the superstitions to test.

Challenge yourself or even your friends to see how many of the superstitions you know you can break today.

Celebrate it as you wish, put up an umbrella while indoors and if you spill salt don’t throw some over your shoulder all in the spirit of Defy Superstition Day.
Here are a few superstitions that are up for defiance:
 It’s bad luck if a black cat crosses your path.
 Catch falling leaves for good luck.
 Superstitions about a broom: Do not lean a broom against a bed, or an evil spirit will cast a spell on the bed. If you sweep rubbish out of a door when it’s dark, a stranger will visit. If someone sweeps over your feet you will never get married. Never take an old broom to a new house.
 If you blow out all of the candles on your birthday cake with the first breath you will get whatever you wish for.
 An eclipse of the sun is an omen of evil.
 Any Friday that falls on the 13th of any month is a day of bad luck.
 The full moon causes mental disturbance and criminal

tendencies.
 Breaking a mirror brings bad luck for seven years.
 Cross your fingers when making a wish, cross your fingers for good luck and cross your fingers when telling a lie.
 A horseshoe hung over a door brings good luck.
