Bowls welcome Spring on the greens

The Vryheid Bowling Club’s annual Spring Tournament was held over the weekend and was attended by 16 teams from various towns.

The weather was good and all those who attended had great fun in the sun.

There were some excellent bowls and the youngest bowler was Aspen Steele 12 years old from Newcastle who also played in the under 19 in Bloemfontein this year.

Everybody had delicious eats for tea and great meals served from the club’s kitchen

The winning team was from Volksrust and local boys, John Cross, Sid Price, Phillip Scheepers and Nolan Malan were in second place.

The club would like to say a very big “thank you” to their sponsors, without whom they would not be able to run this tournament.

They would also like to thank the players for the eats they brought and Margaret for donating the meat for Saturday night’s meal.
