Bowls club rolls into the future

Hannelie Arndt and Dougie Slabbert have done tremendous work with scholars, with the KZNCB team winning gold medals two years in a row

The emphasis was on change at Friday night’s annual general meeting at the bowls club. Members have decided their future on change. The start thereof was voting for a name change to Dundee Sports Club, to involve the community.
It is envisaged, besides the snooker, darts and pool facilities presently available, to utilise one of the greens for ‘indoor’ hockey/handball, mini hockey and other activities to the benefit of the community at large. (See back page for details).

A new youthful committee with lots of enthusiasm and vigour, mixed with experience, was elected into office. Past president Nan Roos was delighted to be handing over to such a young group, ‘the future of our club’.
There is free membership to all scholars.

Bowls SA has also exempted them from levies. Scholars can play in all club competitions – with a minimum competition entry fee. Hannelie Arndt and Dougie Slabbert have done tremendous work with scholars, with the KZNCB team winning gold medals two years in a row!

Theo Gehren Memorial
The drizzling, cold weather on Saturday did not deter the enthusiastic group of bowlers from playing in the popular Theo Gehren tournament. A big thank you to Dennis Gehren for his generous sponsorship in this annual competition.
