Sakekamer gathers for AGM
President of the Sakekamer, Japie Myburgh thanked all sponsors of the past year, and Sakekamer members for their sterling work and dedication throughout the year.
AVIARY HILL – Newcastle Sakekamer held its annual general meeting at Avalon Guest Manor on Friday, August 26.

President of the Sakekamer, Japie Myburgh thanked all sponsors of the past year, and Sakekamer members for their sterling work and dedication throughout the year.
He congratulated Jandri Barnard who fared well at the Sakekamer Woman of the Year. He also encouraged all female members to enter similar competitions, and appealed to members to encourage friends, families and acquaintances to join the Sakekamer.

The following matters were discussed at the AGM:
Local development
Mr Myburgh said recent investments and development in Newcastle, such as housing, shopping centres, petrol ports, the airport extension and Vulintaba Country Lodge, stimulated economical progress.
Head of the Vodacom Winter Festival Comittee, Hennie Pelser said new activities and entertainment were a huge success, despite rainy weather. A staggering R200 000 was donated to various charity organisations, including La Gratitude, Morester and Home Meah.
Financial matters:
Sakekamer treasurer, NT Oosthuizen discussed various fund-raisers. He said membership fees for 2017 would be increased to R1080, payable by each of the 90 members.
Mr Myburgh welcomed new members to the Sakekamer, such as Vulintaba Country Lodge, Sanlam and La Sport.

– Japie Myburgh was elected as President of the Newcastle Sakekamer
– Jan Viljoen was elected Vice President of the Newcastle Sakekamer
– and NT Oosthuizen was elected Treasurer of Newcastle Sakekamer.
Upcoming Sakekamer events are:
– Secretaries Day at the Newcastle Country Lodge on September 7.
– Network Evening at St Dominic’s. (Date not yet confirmed)
– Network lunch with Thirsty Water on October 12.
– AHI National Congress on October 20
– Sakekamer Golf Day on October 22.
