When Xela and Yunus Kader visited the shooting range last September, they witnessed the horrific act of animal cruelty right before their eyes. After approaching the axe-wielding culprit, the Kaders managed to gain access to the dog and transport the barely conscious mutt to the Veterinary. Dr Barry Rafferty worked quickly to save the dogs life.

The SPCA was contacted and a full-blown investigation was launched by SPCA Inspector, Elize van Rooyen. The attacker was located and faced charges in accordance with the Animal Protection Act.

Fast-forward to the present, Pikkie, as he is affectionately known as by his new owner, has found a loving home with SPCA Inspector, Mrs van Rooyen, who adopted him soon after he was rescued from his vicious attacker.
