This was revealed by the Department of Energy and the Automobile Association (AA).

It was confirmed petrol will decrease by 18 cents per litre, and diesel by 48c (0.05 per cent sulphur) and 49c per litre (0.005 per cent sulphur).

However, this decrease could have been much more favourable.

The furore surrounding Finance Minister, Pravin Gordhan resulted in a weakened Rand, experts have said, which in turn affected how much the fuel cost dropped.
