Children’s dreams realised through ‘Toys for Joy’

We were lucky enough to make the Môrester dream a reality...

On July 16, in celebration of Mandela Day, the Ladysmith Gazette partnered with Mark’s Tyres to raise funds for Môrester Children’s Home so as to buy new mattresses for the children. This was part of the ‘Toys for Joy’ drive.

‘Toys for Joy’ is a campaign where the Ladysmith Gazette partners with members of the community and local businesses to give those less fortunate a great Christmas by handing out food hampers and toys.

We were lucky enough to make the Môrester dream a reality! A team from the Ladysmith Gazette recently went to the children’s home to hand over the mattresses, and they were greeted with friendly faces.

Two houses, one with boys and one with girls, received the mattresses. These little ones will be well rested for sure!

There were 28 mattresses in total. 14 of them were bought with the money raised at the robots, while the other 14 were from an anonymous sponsor.

‘Toys for Joy’ has reached one of its goals, but the campaign is far from over.

There are still a lot of items we need so that we are able to give others the Christmas they truly deserve.
