The incident took place in Paterson Street, a street notorious for sex workers.

“We live in one of the houses in Paterson Street and on Sunday night, August 28, we heard someone fighting,” said the teenager, who opted to remain anonymous out of fear.

Curious to see what was happening, he and his uncle went outside.

“We saw three men and two women, who were prostitutes, fighting on the corner of Hardwick and Paterson streets. The fight eventually moved to outside our home.”

Things took a horrible turn for the teenager and his uncle.

The five people allegedly lashed out at the two witnesses and started throwing rocks at them.

“We did not say a word to them, and I have no idea why they did it, but we were actually lying on the ground because of the way they were hitting us,” said the shocked youngster.

He claimed he contacted the police, but they never turned up.

“I called more than once, but no one came out,” he claimed.

The teen said he felt something drastic needed to be done about prostitutes in the area.

“Some nights, they bring their customers to the open grounds near the houses and do their business in full view. Occasionally, they will even throw their used condoms into our yards,” he said disgustedly.

A Paterson Street businessman said he was fed-up with the shameless sex workers in the area.

“They make fires alongside the road, their mess goes into businesses property and a person can’t talk to them about it, as they are arrogant and ready to fight.”

The police communication department was contacted, but no comment was forthcoming at the time of going to print.
