Help keep Luke running for the title

To vote for Luke SMS the number 04 to 37400 at the cost of R1.50

On Sunday, September 4 the eight females who made it to the Idols South Africa’s Top 16 graced our screens as they opened Season 12’s live voting show at Pretoria’s State Theatre.

For the first live show they sang a rendition of Rihanna’s ‘Work’ featuring Drake for the opening sequence. The sexy yet classy delivery of the song had the audience captivated.

Durban’s Afrotainment, the guest performers for the evening brought their very own blaze to the stage. The show was themed ‘Hits of the Last Decade’ and Estcourt’s Luke (Nontobeko) Ntombela selected the infectious ‘Yoga’ by Janelle Monae featuring Jadena, to help her seduce South Africa to fall in love with her voice.

The 26-year-old’s fighter spirit was not enough to impress the judges. Randall called the song choice “ambitious” but that Luke fell short, adding that a song by Ariana Grande would’ve done her justice.

Gareth agreed with Somizi as they felt she was uncomfortable and restricted by the high heels she was wearing, while Unathi thought nerves got the better of her.  Fortunately for Luke who has been singing for as long as she can remember, the judges no longer have a say. But you do.

To vote for Luke SMS the number 04 to 31400 at the cost of R1.50.
