According to Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications and Liaison officer, Lizzy Arumugam, advertisements state the SAPS was recruiting interested persons to apply for police traineeship for 2017 and other vacancies within the police force, on the following website: https://www.jobfeed.co.za/police-development-learning-programme/, bearing the SAPS logo.

“The South African Police Service places advertisements for any posts within its structures in a range of newspapers around the country, in order to reach as many potential and suitable candidates as possible.”

Ms Arumugam said existing vacancies and official application forms are available on the official SAPS website, www.saps.gov.za

“Only information that is on this website can be regarded as authentic,” she said.

The SAPS confirmed there were currently no vacancies available for police trainees and that the advertisement formed part of a scam, aimed at misleading the public and should be ignored.

Members of the public are advised not to be misled by any false advertising scams, and to report these activities to the police on 034 314 6158/9.
