15 arrested for the possession of drugs

Members at police stations situated in the Uthukela Cluster have been hard at work combatting the drug trade. A total of 15 people were arrested and over 370 kg of dagga was seized, as well as several whoonga straws.

The suspects are aged between 20 and 74 years of age. The suspects are appearing in various courts across the Uthukela Cluster. Amangwe SAPS were working in the Nyezane area on August 19 when they arrested three suspects, aged 20, 21, and 45-year-old who were found in possession of dagga.

They continued their success on August 21 where they arrested four more suspects, aged between 30-74, in the Mnyangweni area for the possession of dagga.

Amangwe SAPS members Constable Mnculwane, Constable Zuma and Constable Mpembe were performing patrol duties at Mnyangweni location when they received information about a homestead where dagga was being kept.

They then proceeded to the said houses and upon searching the premises, police seized dagga weighing 358.3 kg in total. Estcourt police added to the total by arresting a 34-year-old man in Alexandra Street for a small amount of dagga. Other arrests were made in Ezakheni and Ladysmith.
