Women of the municipality stand together

Issues surrounding women's health, supporting each other and equality were some of the main topics discussed

The women of Alfred Duma Municipality gathered at the Utility Hall today (August 30) to celebrate and commemorate Woman’s Month by discussing the joys and issues they face in society.

The ladies filled up the hall wearing black and pink clothing to symbolize the qualities of a woman.

“Black symbolizes elegance, power and modesty, while pink symbolizes love and sensitivity,” said Thabile Kunene, who is an Employee Wellness Progamme Co-ordinator at Alfred Duma Municipality.

Deputy Mayor Thuli Hadebe graced the event with her presence and delivered an insightful address. In her speech, Deputy Mayor Hadebe urged women to stick together, support and help each other in every way possible, and stop bringing each other down.

A dialogue that took place saw those present uplifting each other and sharing life experiences they have gone through.

Issues surrounding women’s health, supporting each other and equality were some of the main topics discussed.
