The third annual Doctor’s Golf Day took place on Saturday at Dundee Country Club and attracted a very large field of 91 players for this I.P.S. competition. Regular golfer, Henk Booysen, had every reason to smile at the evening prize giving, as not only did he win the day on 41 points, counting out both H Hlongwane and S Ndlovu, to take home a fridge, but he also picked up the prize for nearest the pin on hole no. 4, and if that wasn’t enough reason to smile, his number was drawn in the raffle and he won himself the blesbok!
The other nearest the pin prizes went to T Dube on hole no. 8, with S Maphanga picking up the prize on both holes nos.12 and 16.
The prize for the men’s longest drive also went to S Maphanga with Dolly Bradbury winning the ladies prize.

There was also a prize for the longest putt on hole no.18 for recording a par or better, and that was won by Barry Sandy.
The golf committee thanks all the doctors who made this day possible, and the club looks forward to hosting a similar event again next year.
On Friday afternoon, the Coal Mining Golf Day saw 22 corporate teams participate in the American Scramble competition.
Winning the day with a credible low score of 52 net was the Natal Comms team of N Patterson, E Corbitt, H Booysen (Jnr) and P Van Biljon. Second place went to the CBC “2” team on a net 53 with Debbie Catlett and her team finishing third with a net 54.

Henk Booysen was the overall winner with Hlengiwe Hlongwane, second, ensuring that the ladies were well represented during Women's Month. Simphiwe Ndlovu was third, followed by S Mthembu and Joe Khumalo (far right).
