The shooting of 21-year-old Shivan Singh in Madras Road sent shock waves through the community on Saturday evening.
While police have named the victim now and released no further information, the Ladysmith Gazette can confirm that a security guard who worked at Dave’s Panelbeaters was arrested in connection with the shooting.
A firearm has been recovered from the scene as well.
It is alleged that the firearm is the murder weapon.

On Saturday evening at about 9.45pm, Ladysmith police received a call of a person lying on the ground in Madras Road.
On arrival at the scene, they discovered a 21-year-old man had been shot and killed. The motive of the killing is not known at this stage and police are investigating a murder case.
The deceased has been identified as Shivan Singh.
