Adding warmth to a cold winter

They visited Verbanna Crèche, situated in the RDP area of Acaciavale, where 90 children were treated to delicious, hot chicken soup and bread

Co-ordinators Mr Bihaspat and Miss Govender, educators from Ladysmith Secondary School (Lasec), recently braved the cold and made their way to various places in Ladysmith in an attempt to compassionately reach out to those in need.

They visited Verbanna Crèche, situated in the RDP area of Acaciavale, where 90 children were treated to delicious, hot chicken soup and bread, once again sponsored and prepared by the Royal Hotel.

Fruit packs, sponsored by Miss RJ Veerasamy, were also distributed.

Later the same day, the team made their way to the CBD, where they descended on Forbes Street, Lyell Street and Murchison Street, bringing warmth and love as they distributed steaming-hot soup to homeless people found in the street, a welcome relief from the bitter cold .

Continuing with their humanitarian drive and oblivious to the cold, the team then made their way to the Meena/Gazza area, where a night soup kitchen was set up. Here, a further 120 cups of soup were distributed to those in need of a warm meal.

These initiatives prove to be rewarding and fulfilling to those in need.

Anyone interested in joining in on these projects or would like to sponsor anything in aid of these projects may feel free to do so by contacting Mr Bihaspat on 036-633-0218 or call the school to make an appointment on 036-633-3675.
