Fusion Youth Academy set to launch soon

Through the academy, she hopes to convey the importance of every young individual and building a strong, united community

17-year-old Karell Moonsamy feels that being a ‘tween’ you fall under the most neglected age group. Tween describes youths who are aged eight to 14, who are “between” childhood and the teenage years. The term is a blend of the words “between” and “teen.”

“You are not a baby and you are not old enough either,” exclaimed Karell. She was once at that age and understands the frustrations that come along with it.

With that said the young woman decided to launch a youth academy called Fusion Youth Academy. “We do not have any recreational facilities or constructive and safe ways to interact socially.

“Some parents fail to realise that children just need love and attention and not materialistic things, we just want guidance, support and an open relationship. The academy will assist by uniting our voices, and letting it be heard,” said Karell.

Through the academy, she hopes to convey the importance of every young individual and building a strong, united community.

The academy will officially be launched on Saturday, August 27 at Forderville Primary School from 1pm. With the launch themed ‘One child, one family, one school, one community’ there will be loads to see and do from face painting, a jumping castle, sports, track dancing, motivational speakers and much more. Entrance fee is R10 per person. Help make your child’s youth, youthful by taking the first step.
