Son gets life sentence for brutal murder of elderly father

A man who murdered his pensioner father in Glencoe has been given a life sentence.
Sabelo Dlamini was appearing in the Dundee Regional Court where he was convicted of the murder of his 63-year-old father, Ismail Dlamini.
He was given another 15 years for robbery with aggravating circumstances.
An accomplice, Siphelele Mdlalose, was acquitted.
The Court heard how that in January 2015, police were called to 41 Paul Sauer Road in Valleyview, Glencoe, by a woman who said her father, Ismail Dlamini, had been attacked and left for dead in his house
Upon their arrival, police found the body of Mr Dlamini – a pensioner – in the house. He had suffered bruising around the neck and chest and there were also bruises on his back and on one of his legs. Detectives said he had also been stabbed several times.
An extension cord was found under his body and a hammer was also found on the scene. Two television sets and two DVD players valued at around R4 500 had been taken from the house.
The following day, detectives arrested three men aged between 19 and 25.
Dlamini and Mdlalose were eventually charged for murder and robbery. The case was investigated by Detective Warrant Officer Maharaj of Glencoe.
