“Sadly, a woman, aged about 30, and a man, estimated to be 45 years old, have sustained fatal injuries in this crash. A man in his 40s was treated for serious injuries at the scene,” said EMS spokesperson Robert Mckenzie.

He added that paramedics had transported the injured man to hospital for additional medical care.

“The police are investigating the exact cause of the crash,” he concluded.

Lakeside resident, Miracle Louw, said he was rushing to work at about 7.30am when he noticed a number of emergency personnel at the scene already. “It looked like the vehicle had been coming from town and had went through the crash barrier approaching the Lakeside bridge,” said Mr Louw.
