Thank you ShisaLanga for our new road surfaces
ShisaLanga, under the direction of their general manager, Tommy Koekemoer, resurfaced the road leading to the hostels, painted the speed bumps, and put up signs to direct visitors to the correct destinations. All of this was accomplished in only two days.

Trigonometry Workshop
Learners from Sarel Cilliers attended a trigonometry workshop held at Talana Museum. It was presented by Greg Shapiro during the July holidays.
The course was aimed at instilling basic trigonometry concepts. The learners thoroughly enjoyed the course and the follow-up lessons are continuing with the aim of helping learners achieve 100% competency in the skills taught. An external exam will be written soon to determine the effectiveness of the course and awards will be given to learners who excel.

Netball Trials in Cape Town by Nqobile Moetanalo
“Being selected to represent KZN was one of my dreams come true,” says Nqobile Moetanalo. Going to Cape Town was the best thing that has happened to her. She says she has always wanted to visit other provinces and cities she has never seen before. Every day was filled with surprises and good times for her at in Cape Town. On the day of the trials they played like never before, facing the toughest competition ever.
She and the rest of the participants learned so much from the experience and cannot wait to share the knowledge they have gained with the younger players at their schools.
The girls also had the opportunity to explore the city. They also visited Table Mountain, which Nqobile totally fell in love with.
After the last game, the girls went window-shopping at the Waterfront and visited the big wheel.

Spar KZN Hockey Finals
The past weekend the Sarel Cilliers first hockey team attended the Spar KZN School Girls Hockey Challenge in Kloof at St Mary’s. They had won the Northern Region Tournament in February and were the first team to beat Ferrum, who had won it the five prior years. The girls were super excited to attend such a great tournament.
They participated against schools like Amanzimtoti High School, Durban Girls’ College (winners of the tournament), Grantleigh College, King Edward High School and St Mary’s, who hosted the tournament. However, they lost three matches, drew one, and won one.
Sarel finished ninth out of 10 schools.
