Only independent candidate to fight a ward is an ‘old hand’

‘Mr Adam is the type of high-calibre person we need on Council. The community deserves to be represented by someone of his integrity and experience'

Essop Adam, who has served on Endumeni Council for the past 18 years with the DA, is the only independent candidate fighting the August 3 local government elections in the municipal area.
“I believe I can best the community of Ward 6 – that includes Peacevale, Forestdale and surrounding areas – as an independent candidate without having to bow down to a party mandate as all political party Councillors have to do,” Mr Adam told the Courier.
He believes that local government is all about ‘pavements, roads, electricity and basic services’ and says he wants to represent his ward in order to ensure that they get the best deal.
Businessman, Yusuf Kader, who has endorsed him, who said ‘Mr Adam is the type of high-calibre person we need on Council. The community deserves to be represented by someone of his integrity and experience.”
Mr Kader said he had ‘distanced’ himself from ‘opportunistic parties as I have realised, when it comes to local level, it is the person and not the party that matters. I pledge my support for Mr Adam long with all my business associates.”
